Monthly Fishing News And Pictures

August
Fishing in august is not my most favorite month, this year no exception.  Rivers very low
on water ,as are the trout lakes(some local waters still closed).Long day on River Kennet
ended in a blank for me and many other anglers.  Upper Severn still produced a few Barbel early in month when river was much higher.  River Thame fished quite well for chub and perch in the right swims. Trout lakes been very hard to produce fish, had a few laughs but not many fish.  Where is the rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

September
Have been fishing on the Hampshire Avon,  Dorset Stour and river Kennet all are
the lowest seen for many years.  Managed a Barbel 8lb 11oz from the Stour, as did my mate lovely fish of 10lb 11oz.He also managed a nice 5lb 2oz Hampshire Avon chub which was promptly attacked by a 19lb 7oz pike (see pics). Yes we landed both, and saved the chub(a bit scared)!!!!
We need at least a foot of water on the rivers to liven them up,and get the fish feeding.
Lakes getting better just starting to clear, rainbows much more active thanks to colder nights, making them a little easier to catch at last.

October
Rivers still desperate for good rain fall to get levels up, and now to get rid leaves.
Despite this still some good fish being caught, some good Barbel from River Kennet(see pics).  Nice Chub and Perch coming from River Thame.
Lakes fishing a lot better for Trout due to colder nights and water clearing.  Best flies Montanas and small imitation lures.

November
First few days of the month its still low river levels, odd Barbel and chub coming out early or late in sessions.
Went overseas for just over 2 weeks, and it started raining and has not stopped, now rivers out of banks and i give up!!!!
Lakes fishing steady for both browns
and rainbows.

December
The rains have come at last, but to much, now the rivers are flooded, and unfishable, typical never a happy medium, frosts on top of that not a good month for the rivers at all.
Lakes fished fairly steady with the extra water, the trout have started to move to lures quite well.

January/February
What a start to the new year for the first time ever it was impossible to be able to fish for anything during January, due to snow, ice and floods!
February started no better, but did managed the odd short sessions on the river for a few nice chub up to just over 4lb.
Last week of month managed to get on the lakes, catching a few rainbow trout on black & green lures fished very slowly.
